hannah is FIVE! Alhamdulillah...

five years ago, i made this entry. this little bundle of joy made her bestfriend (read: akemi) and i very very happy. i fell in love immediately. this little thing is my niece and i get to spoil her whenever i want. haha!

and now, today, she turns five. FIVE! cepat betul masa berlalu.

my darling hannah kamilla, you bring joy into our lives. each and every day, you surprise us with new things about you, i see a lot of me in you (sorry hannah's mummy...like aunty, like niece, perhaps? :-p) and i know that you will be a wonderful person when you grow up.

antidott and akemi, sentiasa mendoakan hannah kamilla menjadi anak yang solehah, yang cerdik pandai, yang menghormati orang tua, yang pretty and yang princess and also supaya you dipanjangkan lagi umur, dimurahkan rezeki sentiasa, dilindungi dan diberkati Allah, and most importantly supaya you menjadi ahli syurga. Amin. we wish nothing but the best for you, our special niece. have a blast today, kamiyya. we LOVE you!! muah!!

he arrived when i was 12. i became an aunt that day. i didn't know what it meant until i saw this cute little baby and was immediately in love!

today, he will become someone's husband and soon i will become someone's grandmother...s**t! i mean, YEAY!!! got to drill into head or etch in laser that one is no longer THAT young anymore. haha!

to the boy who changed my whole view on kids (gosh, i used to HATE kids waaaay back when) who is now a man, congratulations abang. i'm sorry i cannot be there for you today, but my prayers are with you. good luck aaaand...harap-harap, sekali lafaz jelah iyerrrrrrrr miahahahaha!!!!!

so, i knitted a scarf

behold, the Woven Cable Scarf.

i knit for a few reasons. most of the time it's either because i am travelling or because i have a certain someone on my mind. hehehe...the scarf is already on its way and i hope the recipient of the scarf will like it. kalau tak...simpan jelah...hehehahaha!!!

i usually get my patterns from this wonderful site called www.knittingpatterncentral.com it's a very useful site for beginners or experts, tak kisahlah. i took this pattern from this website www.straw.com. would you like me to repeat the pattern here? takyahlah kot, kan? for those who are interested, i used the 141g Red Heart yarn in Camo.

okay then, enjoy your weekend and i must get back to the other scarf i am working on and this time it will be in a pair for a wonderful mom and her cute lil daughter...sapalah agaknya ek? ;-)))

i made these once for a friend's son's birthday and thought why not make some for emraan's belated birthday celebration today. it's going to be a double celebration, so i heard. hahahaahahaha!! *laughing frantically like a lunatic means, i am still NOT ready for tomorrow, so, let's all laugh together, shall we?* hahahahahaha!!!!!

FYI, i didn't go to any formal chocolate making classes. whatever i learnt, i learnt from my friend tini (thank you for the tips fren, really appreciate it) and also, of course from everybody's friend, MrYouTube. for this particular thing (i don't think this classifies as a 'dish', right?) i went through mrGoogle and found the tutorial here. but instead of using chocolate transfer sheets, i used edible printouts that people usually stick on top of cupcakes.

i also did not use my microwave to melt the chocolate instead i used this little thingamajig. pretty handy, i tell you.

all in all, i had fun making these and i will definitely make more for future birthdays or just because. hehehe...

as for my darling emraan...happy belated birthday. semoga emraan menjadi anak yang soleh, diberikan kesihatan yang baik dan berjaya di dunia dan di akhirat.

for my nephew, heikal

this entry is waaaaaay overdue. waaaay waaaaaaaaay...you get my drift, right?

my nephew, heikal got married recently. they had the 'akad nikah' ceremony on the 23 december 2011. i couldn't be there to cheer him on, but i did make a little something-something for the guy. it was my way of 'being there' for him.

now, everyone (all 4 of you...haha!!) know that this is NOT a food blog. right? but, everytime i attempt to write anything non-food...it will always come back to food.

this, for instance:

what i want to blog about is this container that i decorated as part of his hantaran. but inside, i filled the container with a whole lotta antidott's goodness. my chocolate chunk cookies - food. there is no escape, i'm telling ya.

well, for the groom, my nephew, congratulations and good luck. you are now someone's husband and soon you will be someone's father. hmmm...talking about being someone's father...heikal, you still remember our little talk, right? when the little ones come...they are NEVER allowed to call me nenek, aight? Kakak dahlah. miahahahaha!!!!

congratulations once again you two!

and i think it's still not too late to wish you guys a happy happy new year, right? well, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! muah!

this one's for you yvonne

i stumbled upon her blog a few years ago, by accident and was immediately amazed by this young lady's courage and strong will and i became her stalker. her blog's stalker laaaahhh...

one day, i read that she published a book and that was when i knew that i had to meet this courageous person. i don't know why. i could've gone to a book store to get her book, but i decided to meet her in person. and it was a good call. the first time we met, she gave me a hug. it surprised me, because in a world where you are taught to be wary of strangers and people you've never met, she came out of her gate and gave this stranger a hug. it warmed my heart and i vowed to never lose touch with her.

many years have gone by...we've kept in touch in whatever way we can, be it in the isolated emails, or even in a facebook inbox messages.

but this is not what i want to write about tonight. tonight i want to write about yvonne, the girl with a heart of gold. the girl, who did not think twice and gave me a hug.

the girl who now needs our help.

i don't think i am able to fully explain yvonne's true condition, but you guys can go to her blog and read all about her.

a few months ago, she helped a friend of mine, syahidah raise funds for syahidah's surgery in LA and now, Yvonne needs emergency surgery.

i would love to help and i know of only one way that i could help. i can whip up a few batches of my cookies and sell them and i pledge to give ALL the proceeds for Yvonne's emergency surgery funds.

or if you guys don't want my cookies, i would appreciate it if you could go on to yvonne's blog and see if there is anything that you guys could do to help.

the case of the hungry serger

serger darned well ate the back of my pants!! well, not literally, but it did take a chunk (okay, okay i'm exaggerating!) out of the pants that i was trying to sew. *nangeh*

okay, if you look above, i'm sure you can see what happened. i was trying to serge the whole thing when i reached the curved part of the pants, i proceeded to serge and before i knew it, it ate the fabric. apparently, i'm supposed to hold the fabric at a certain angle when serging curvy parts of anything. the left is how it was supposed to turn out (well, after the serger went wild episode, i had to cut and serge another piece) and the right side...oh well...

lunch, anyone? :-p

what were you doing when you were five years old?

when i was five, i was in kindy, reading all sorts of books, being well taken care of...occasionally giving my sister a hard time (read: bullying on a small scale). i remember going for mengaji lessons. i think it's fair to say that i had a balanced and wonderful childhood.

this guy here, he was selling gum and drinks at the tender age of five. FIVE! my niece is four and all i want to do is to protect her from anything bad and also to try my best to make her happy (but HannaH you still have to go to skool and must basahkan all kaki and tangan when you shower okaaaay).

i am a firm believer that God will not test those who are not able to handle all the challenges that is being given.

i should stop whining and just be thankful for what i have.
